Jambalaya is a Creole dish, inspired by both French and Spanish cuisines. Served in the south especially Louisiana! This slow-cooker version only takes 15 minutes to prep, and the flavors simmer together for hours, making this recipe a must-try for any Cajun food lover. We loved this, whatever you want to call it! The only change I made was to use a can of petite diced tomatoes and a can of tomatoes with peppers, drained instead of the 28oz. I also served the hot sauce on the side, as some people don't like HOT.

Slow Cooker Jambalaya

My family loves this recipe I have now made it twice just how the receipe says to make it. Once the rice is recipee mix it in with everything else before serving. Cooking for a crowd, this is easy and everybody loved it. Or you could just leave them out altogether, but you may need to add more broth or water.

Do you think it would become mushy. The only substitution I made was instead of chicken breasts I used boneless skinless chicken thighs for a deeper flavor. Meanwhile, bring the 3 cups of liquid to a boil. I would be a fan of all the various flavors.

I used instant brown rice, added to the slow cooker the last 45 minutes. This dish was fantastic. Then I added garlic, caye. People love the smell of it cooking.

I also got home really late from work and the kids were starving, though. We all loved it and will make it again and again. It is quite good, so I threw in already cooked shrimp and it only took a few minutes to heat up. This sounds very good.

After the rice was done I mixed it into the jambalaya mix and served with garlic bread. The only other problem is that there wasn't much left over.

I love that you added shredded carrots - such a great idea. Amber S. The recipe says that it makes 8 servings. First of all jambalaya is not soupy nor is it a wet dish.

I thought this was fantastic. I have had this recipe on my "need to try" list for quite some time and finally got brave enough to try it. As a Louisiana Cajun we thrive to know the difference. It turned out so good.

I added some more cajun spice too because I started reading other recipes and they said 2 TBL of Cajun spice. I thought it was bland, soupy and just not great. If only I had a slow cooker…. Biscuit Beignets.

  2. This is a great, the recipe was great I would just change the sausage and make way less. Otherwise, super-easy one for a cold day. This says it is a serving for 12 but it made 17 cups for me enough to recips it again for another night. So thank you for sharing this recipe with us.
