Book vs. Film: The Hunger Games | LitReactor

I am a big fan of the world and the characters, and I have been ever since I discovered it. However, my biggest book confession is this; it is not the books that I am in love with, but the films. This is the first time ever that I have admitted to preferring a film adaptation to its original book. The first time I ever heard of it was when I watched the first film at a sleepover with my best friend for Guy Fawkes Night in November , 8 months after its cinematic release. I was vaguely aware there was a new blockbuster film on the block, but I am not a fan of movies in general, so while it entered my subconscious, I was never completely aware of the details of the film, let alone the books. I may have been living under a rock, but I seriously did not know that the trilogy existed. I watched the film with my best friend, who had read all three books, and realised that it was actually pretty damn good.

But I did comlare that the PG rating kept the action from being as compelling as it should have been. I agree with everything that was said here, with the exception of the love story. The scene is also used to take away some of the tension from Katniss' volunteering for Prim. And with President Snow looking generally evil and plotting.

Book version: In dontrast book Peeta realizes Katniss thinks they were "faking it" the entire time. And yeah, even though I liked the story, I also missed some of the survival factor in the game. I rushed throught he books becau. I didn't read the book before watching the movie because I had a feeling I'd end up disappointed - I was already expecting them to cut out some scenes because they can't squeeze everything in there. 1. And honestly, for the same reason as the "open revolt" reasoning, then you shouldn't be writing for a writing site, it kind of moves straight from him professing his love at the interview to their one heartfelt conversation the night before the Games to Katniss caring for him. The reality-television-feel of the movies is made clear and even relatable while Cesar Flickerman interviews the tributes in a way we're used to seeing on TV. As it is in the movie.
